Mr. Dodge,

The USS Wadsworth was placed into service with the Naval Reserve as a training ship soon after the end of WWII. After several years service with the USNR, the ship was decommissioned and placed into mothballs.

After being removed from mothballs, the Wadsworth was sold to the FRG (Federal Republic of Germany) Navy, and stricken from USN records, on Oct 1, 1974.

After that, it was stricken from the FRG Navy list and given to Greece under a military affiliation lend/lease on 10/30/80. The Greeks renamed it the "Nearchos".

I haven't been able to find any information on the Wadsworths' service with the Greek Navy. In 1991 the ship was stricken and sold for scrap. I wish I had better news on the final disposition of this fine lady of the sea.

Sincerely, Richard A. Case II
