2002 REUNION INFORMATION
SECRETARY REPORT 2002
USS HUDSON (DD475)
Dear Hudson Reunion Member: The dedication of the plaque, the Memorial Service and the history of the Hudson, covered by Edwin (Ace) Parker was appreciated by all. R/Adm (Retired) R.R. Pratt gave a short speech of appreciation. The names of the known deceased shipmates were read with the bell rung after each group. Taps were played. After viewing the plaque, the movie, "At Sea" was enjoyed by all. On Tuesday we had a beautiful trip to Intercourse Pennsylvania, where we had a very informative guide to lead us through an Amish home, school, farm lands and industries. We now have a better understanding of these people and their way of life. We had a delicious Amish family style luncheon. On Wednesday we had a ride and luncheon on the paddle boat, "Latern Queen". Wednesday night was the banquet and meeting. Before the meeting was started we were entertained with a visit from Lena & Ollie. If you have never been to a reunion where they made a visit, you have really missed something, as they are fantastic. At the meeting, two places were discussed as to where we should have the fourteenth reunion, Colorado Springs, Col. and Branson Missouri. Colorado Springs won, unanimously. It will most, likely be held around the lst of October 2003. This reunion will be co-chaired by Bob & Betty Van Valkenburg and Frank & Arleen Lawrence. We will let you know more as soon as possible. A Big "THANK YOU" goes out to Richard & Doris Paynter, Chairmen of this great reunion.
We hope to see you in Colorado Springs next year.
