Subject: USS Anthony, DD 515 The Ship "Zerstoerer 1" sunk at May, 16. 1979 at 10:15h, near Kriti (Mediterranean Sea) after Exercise-Torpedo-Attack. Zerstoerer 1 went in the last month of his life a "Target Ship" for the German Submarines. That's the end of a glourious Ship...

MESSAGE #2 It's shure, Z1 went never a Greek Ship. The last years in the German Navy, the Marines takes the machine, the guns and so on away for other Fletcher-Destroyers. The transport of the body from the German Harbour to the Mediterranean Sea goes "by line" with another ship. The German Submarine "U 29" shut down the body at May, 16. 1979. See the picture in the annex.

MESSAGE #3 March 17.1972 Out of Order. With reduced Staff in Kiel (German City at the Baltic Sea). 1973 - 1977 Cannibalize. Parts of the Ship (Machine, Arms) are taken for other Fletcher-Destroyers. 1978 Towed from the Ships Helgoland and Norderney go to Kriti (Greek Island in the Mediterranean Sea). Near Kriti fast anchored since June 26. 1978. Target-Ship for the Navy. May 16. 1979 sunk after heavy torpedo - hit by a German Submarine.
